History
This is the very brief history. For the less-brief history, see Brief History of Lowell.
Lowell was first settled by Europeans in 1931 by a young Frenchman from Detroit named Daniel Marsac (Marsaque), and was originally called Dansville.
On Monday, April 3, 1948, the first Dansville township meeting was held at Tim White's Tavern in order to organize the settlement, which was previously a part of Vergennes Township. It was at this meeting that the township was named Lowell, after Lowell, Massachusetts, by the wife of settler Timothy White.
